Business Litigation Attorney
Compensation: $145,000–$165,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
Status: Exempt

Location: Florida (active Florida Bar license required)
A growing law firm is seeking an experienced Business Litigation Attorney to manage a full caseload of commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution. This role is ideal for a motivated litigator with strong courtroom presence, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with firm leadership.
The ideal candidate brings real trial or bench experience, strong writing and advocacy skills, and a client-first mindset. This position offers meaningful responsibility, reasonable billable expectations, and long-term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of business and commercial litigation matters
- Handle cases from intake through settlement or conclusion of representation
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and legal correspondence
- Conduct legal research and analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation
- Prepare and respond to discovery and manage discovery-related deadlines
- Attend and conduct depositions; prepare witnesses for depositions and hearings
- Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials as assigned
- Take or monitor statements of clients and third parties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and maintain consistent communication
General Duties
- Advise clients on strategy, legal rights, obligations, and risk management related to business disputes
- Independently manage decision-making on assigned matters
- Handle all aspects of commercial litigation including pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, and trials
- Provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants to meet deadlines and firm objectives
- Represent clients in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and mediations
- Draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda with minimal supervision
- Participate in semi-weekly meetings with firm leadership regarding case status and workload
- Participate in monthly case review meetings
- Foster strong, long-term client relationships through proactive communication
Business Development
- Develop and implement a business development plan (subject to approval)
- Participate in networking events, speaking engagements, and thought leadership opportunities
- Support firm growth by cultivating relationships with existing and prospective clients
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with The Florida Bar
- 5–7 years of business or commercial litigation experience
- Trial and/or bench experience required
- Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
- Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and strong work ethic

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $145,000–$165,000, commensurate with experience
- 1,500 minimum annual billable hours
Benefits include:

120 hours (3 weeks) of paid vacation annually, accrued and available after completion of probationary period
